The Election is OVER! RANT…

I know this is completely different from what I normally write about. It’s also not even related to anything in anime or anime culture. I just needed to vent for a moment and no one I know is awake back home that I can talk to about this. So bare with me.

I followed the election the entire day on assorted live streams from independent YouTube channels. Everyone knows that the media has been overly bias and downright obvious in their lack of coverage on important topics and events happening with the candidates so I took to YouTube like most young Americans have been doing this election season. It also is my only way of really seeing what happens since I’m region locked in Hong Kong.

Before I continue let me say, THIS IS NOT an attack on any candidate or any personal stance you have with the candidate you chose. I care more about scrapping shit from my ass hair every night (EVERY NIGHT) than I do about who you voted for. It’s none of my business and I want it to stay that way.

While I was watching the streams, I was constantly getting updates on Twitter and Facebook. During the 5 or so hours I was glued to my laptop, 2 big things started to show up over and over again.

  1. My Facebook friends posting about after the election is over, they are going to purge through their friends and unfriend people. “There has been too much hate, racism, and bigotry in this election and I have no time for it.” This was something one of my friends actually said and after Trump won the presidency they posted again about how all the millennials that are democratic didn’t vote because they are too lazy to get off the couch and educate themselves. They also agreed with one of their friends saying that Trump voters are just cranky old 45+ year old white Americans who want Reagan back. I’m seeing contradictory statements here. Shouldn’t you delete yourself from your Facebook friends if you don’t want to see hate, racism, and bigotry on your account?
  2. Multiple people blasting “I’m ashamed to be an American right now.” All over Twitter and Facebook.

Jesse from PrankvsPrank on YouTube said this multiple times on Twitter. “We need to unify and come together.” I strongly agree to that.

Please come together!

Was this one of the worst elections to vote for? Yes.

Was this one of the most corrupt elections ever? Yes.

Does that mean you should be ashamed to be American? Absolutely NOT!

Words hold meaning… When you go on social media and say, “I’m ashamed to be an American.” That says a lot to me about how your values are prioritized. I’m not saying you need to be overly patriotic but to say you’re ashamed to be American over this election means you’re complacent. You support America in the good times and abandon ship in the bad times.

Why do sports fans hate bandwagon fans so much? For this reason! You don’t get to sit on the fence and wait for the good times to roll in. You can support a candidate and be upset if they lose but that doesn’t mean you get to abandon the cause! We all want to improve America, we all want to bring more jobs to citizens and decrease the rising debt. We can’t do that when we just shut ourselves off when our candidate loses.

When you turn your back on America, America turns its back on you. A country and its leaders can’t help its people when things like this happen! You can be upset, I am. But that doesn’t give you the opportunity to scream like a butt hurt teenager about it.

Once again, I’m not trying to hate on anyone. I’ve said my peace and I’m going back to studying for my final exams. Hopefully I didn’t just drive my blog into the ground with this post but so much of this “I’m ashamed to be an American” stuff was flying everywhere that I couldn’t concentrate on my school work. I kinda snapped and I apologize.

I hope you all enjoyed! Have a wonderful day!
