I’m so upset with the ending of the episode! This was such a good episode. Lots of development is happening for a lot of characters.
So this episode continues with Subaru and Rem going to he village to get supplies. During his time there, he makes sure to let each member of the village touch him in a different area on his body. We find out why 5 more minutes into the episode. So, while at the village he also plays games and exercises with the kids of the town. After this happens, one of the girls decides to show them the dogs they play with. He ends up biting Subaru on the hand. Once Rem finishes grabbing all the supplies she needed. They leave at once.
Once back at the mansion Subaru goes to Beatrice and makes her check him for curses. BTW their conversations always put a smile on my face. Their interactions are priceless and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them. She performs the spell that will show where on the body the curse was put. That’s why he had each villager touch him in different areas. So he could remember who cursed him. We find out that he was cursed by the dog that bit him. Upon figuring this out he realizes that the kids are in danger and rushes to save them. Obviously he cannot handle this alone, he reasons with Rem and Ram for help. At first they were skeptical to help and they were told by Roswaal to keep the mansion safe while he is away on business. Ultimately Rem decides to go with him.
When they reach the village they are told that all the children are missing. Subaru immediately knows they are in the woods somewhere. We also find out that there are wild beasts roaming the forests. Still, Subaru runs into the forest in search for the missing kids. He eventually finds them and gets Rem to perform a low level healing spell to curb the discomfort that the kids are facing. One of the little girls wakes up and tells Subaru there is one last girl lost in the woods. Rem is very upset with Subaru by now. She doesn’t understand why he cares so much for these children. Subaru knows all of the children’s names, their aspirations for the future, and their weaknesses. He knows them and the kids love him in return. Subaru and those kids have a sort of bond, He wants to keep them safe. They deserve to kept safe.
The girl was not hard to find. Leaving Subaru to believe it is a trap, despite his better judgement goes in to save her, and it is a trap. He is jumped by a wolf monster. He uses his shirt to shield his arm from a bite and uses the wolf’s momentum to throw it onto a tree branch, stabbing and killing it. It’s not over though. More and more of the wolves come out of the woodwork and attack him. Thankfully he bought enough time for Rem to come to his aid. She kills all the wolves and works on getting the final girl out of the woods. On their way out, they are attacked once more by more wolves and the main little dog that bit him. Rem becomes injured which triggers her into becoming a demon (yes a demon) and she goes on a rampage which makes her careless and dangerous. During the slaughter of wolves Rem is attacked from behind by the wolves, she does not see it coming and Subaru pushes her out of the way. This causes her to snap out of her demon mode. She returns to normal just has Subaru is engulfed by the landslide. He is ultimately crushed under the rubble of the landslide created by the wolves. Episode end. God damnit these cliffhangers!!!
I hope he doesn’t die. He has a lot of good memories in this life. The pillow scene with Emilia, the development with Rem and Ram, and the current plot with the curse. He is getting so close to figuring things out and learning what is really going on. I would be so angry if next episode he wakes up and bam, he’s back in the bedroom with a clean slate. That would make me so mad!
On a lighter note, the look on Subaru’s face when Rem pulled out her mace was hilarious. Like whoa! That giant thing just killed him like two or three episodes back. Low key trauma for Subaru. That little touch was nice. I like the attention to detail that this series shows. There are a lot of questions that were raised as well. In Subaru’s previous lives, Roswaal never left the mansion. Why? How will that effect this life over the last one? What kind of events should we expect in the next episode?
This was a very enjoyable episode and I can’t wait to watch it!
I hope you all enjoyed! Have a wonderful day!
