Light novels: Day 2 #12daysofanime

When I was first starting my blog I was having a hard time figuring out what kind of content to bring to the table. I watched a lot of anime, most I wouldn’t review because they were more of a guilty pleasure than something I would constructively review (i.e. ecchi and harem was what I watched a lot of to let myself unwind from an exhausting day).

While thinking about what else to talk about on my blog, I thought about light novels. I had been following the SAO light novels for the last year, but no other light novels. I was only reading that light novel because I really wanted to know what happened after the show ended. That’s when I thought it would be a good idea to review those as well. So I looked into some of the anime that I liked that were based off light novels like Accel World, No Game No Life, and Black Bullet.

That’s when I really started loving light novels. When I started reading the first Black bullet light novel was when I realized I loved reading light novels more than reading manga. There was something about how the story engulfed me a little more than manga ever has. Nothing against manga, I still love it too

When the ending of Black Bullet vol. 1 came. I really felt like I needed to immediately go to the bookstore and buy the next volume. Which is what I actually did. Manga has not done that for me. I also think part of it was because at the time, I didn’t want to tell anyone about my slow growing obsession towards anime. A lot of people still think anime is for kids or its all pornographic. So reading light novels in public was a little more inconspicuous than reading a thick volume of manga. I’ve since grown out of that insecurity a little but that really pushed my willingness to read more and more light novels. Not to mention I couldn’t find a lot of blogs reviewing about light novels at the time so I figured this would be a good way to separate myself from the pack early.

When I return to the states, I can’t wait to start reviewing them again! I’m completely backlogged on all my anime, manga, and especially light novels. It’s gonna be a short Christmas break. Thank you so much for reading. What’s your favorite light novel? From the picture, you can probably guess that mine is Black Bullet. I like the fusion of tragedy and small girls beating the crap out of monsters.

I hope you all enjoyed! Have a wonderful day!
