I’m ready for more food porn!

Due to so much going on in my life right now, I haven’t had much time to go over any anime news. But I was scrolling through MAL and found this. It’s the MAL page for the second season of shokugeki no Souma! I’m so excited to watch it! I know almost everyone knows about this piece of news already but bear with me while I vent my excitement.

It’s currently unknown how many episodes it is going to be but hopefully we get another 24 episode series like last season. It is scheduled to air in July of this year. Thankfully it will be done by the same studio who did the first season, J. C. Staff. I get antsy when I see a second season being made by a different studio from the first season. The second season will be called Shokugeki no souma: Ni no Sara (Food Wars: the second plate).79353

It will be available for legal streaming by Crunchyroll. From the poster of the new season, we can see our supporting and main characters staring down the viewer. Then we have a new character enter the fold. He’s got the Drake lightning line haircut and a crooked smile so I’m assuming he is going to be an antagonist for this season. I hope so, most of the antagonists in last season weren’t really what I would consider an antagonist. They were more just steps for Souma to walk up. Even though these antagonists are good cooks, they never seemed to phase Souma, like ever. So if this new character is a foe rather than a friend, I hope he gives Souma a run for his money.

This was the first 24 episode anime that I watched every episode within 24 hours of its release. I was kind of proud that I stuck to watching this every single week for about 5 months. Like most, I can have a very short attention span at times. When there is a long running anime, ahem Naruto, I sometimes get demotivated to watch it. Depending on how well structured the plot is for the first few episodes, I may do episode reviews of this. I’m rather surprised that with the series airing in about a month, there isn’t more information about it. I’m kind of happy about this since I haven’t read the manga yet so I don’t know whats going to happen other than pick up where they left off in the previous season. I’m excited to see where they can bring the series and what the story has in store for us!

I hope you all enjoyed! Have a wonderful day!
